THE MIND AND THE BODY ARE INTRICATELY CONNECTED.
The complex dynamics that exist between the body and mind can yield unexpected physical and emotional turmoil.
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. I am passionate about working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma, or Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). I am trained in EMDR and in Forward Facing Trauma Therapy. These treatments and approaches have proven to be very effective in helping people heal from the effects of their childhood trauma, decrease their symptoms of anxiety and depression, and improve their overall quality of life.
I am also passionate about working with adults who have chronic pain that is medically unexplained, such as back/neck pain, Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and that is not getting better with conventional medical/physical treatments. Research has shown that this type of chronic pain may be caused by emotional and psychological factors, such as life stress and childhood trauma. Having personally experienced this type of chronic pain, I am able to understand and empathize, on a deeper level, with my clients who may be struggling with this issue.
Finally, I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist. I am passionate about working with LGBTQ+ adults who may be struggling with accepting their sexual and/or gender identity or who may be struggling with the impact of growing up as a sexual and/or gender minority. Research has shown that minority stress can have a significant impact on the mental health, and overall wellbeing, of LGBTQ+ individuals.
I strongly believe in the mind-body connection and in a holistic approach to counseling. I believe that self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-care are the key to improving one’s health and wellness.
Do you want to feel more confident, more fulfilled, and more connected with yourself and with others? Do you want to treat yourself better - with more acceptance, compassion, and self-care? And, do you want to feel like you are living more grounded in the present moment? Sometimes, our past hurts and traumas can affect how we see ourselves, other people, and the world around us. They can affect our thoughts, feelings, and actions. And, they can cause us to act in ways that hurt the ones we love and go against our values, morals, and principles. We all want a life of meaning and purpose. I can help you achieve this.
I offer evidence-based treatments and approaches that are tailored to your individual needs and preferences. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and I am trained in EMDR. I specialize in helping people heal from childhood trauma. I also specialize in treating chronic pain that is not responding well to medical or physical treatments.
If you want to feel better about yourself and you are motivated to engage in this work, I would be honored to work with you. I will work collaboratively, with you, to help you identify and achieve your goals. I have helped many others and would love to help you.
